    Christopher Hightower has completed post-graduate studies at the University of Georgia. He obtained his master’s degree in educational leadership and administration from Troy State University and his Bachelor of Arts in journalism from the University of Georgia and graduated as the Class Valedictorian of his high school class at Lamar County Comprehensive High School, Barnesville, Georgia. 

    Declining a staff writer/reporter position with the Lexington Herald-Leader, Lexington, Kentucky, upon college graduation, Christopher is now a veteran educator having first served at Lamar County High School, Barnesville, Georgia, his high school alma mater, where he encouraged, empowered, engaged, and equipped students. He was the advisor of several student organizations and was the founder of the Youth Ambassadors. He then was the Tech Prep Coordinator Flint River Technical College (Southern Crescent Technical College) prior to accepting his current teaching assignment with Henry County Schools. At Luella High School, Locust Grove, Henry County, Georgia, he proudly taught seniors, influenced all students, served as Senior Class sponsor, and was the Charter Advisor for both the Georgia Secretary of State Student Ambassadors and the Black Student Union at LHS. His philosophy for students, “If Better is Possible, Good is not Enough” has inspired countless students who continue to live by and share this motto. 

    He continued his legacy of “Better is Possible” at Impact Academy, Henry County Schools, where he shifted from the traditional classroom to virtual teaching and learning. He is now elated  to reach and to relate to students, empowering, encouraging, engaging, and equipping students at the Academy for Advanced Studies as the ELA Chairperson. He is also an adjunct instructor with the Henry County Online Academy. 

    A native of Barnesville, Georgia, Christopher Hightower has served as the city’s Mayor Pro Tem, and is now in his sixth term on the Barnesville Council. He is known for proclaiming “Barnesville Georgia is the World’s Greatest City.” He serves his community wholeheartedly. 

    On January 6, 2022, Governor Brian Kemp appointed Christopher Hightower to serve as a member of the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority. He was officially sworn in for this state Board of Directors position by the Governor January 24, 2022.  

    Recipient of the highest level of recognition, the Certificate of Dedication, Christopher Hightower has received all levels of recognition for municipal training offered through the Harold F. Holtz Municipal Training.

    Appointed by the Georgia Municipal Association, Christopher Hightower served as the District 4 Representative on the Municipal Training Board for a four-year term.  

    The inaugural recipient of the Community “Wind” Award, presented by the Craig A. Ogletree Memorial Foundation, he is the recipient of many honors for his achievements and his service. Gifted by God, Christopher Hightower is also a speaker, writer, administrator, and leader. He is a member of the Beulah Missionary Baptist Church, Decatur, Georgia, where he serves his pastor, the Reverend Jerry D. Black, and the church faithfully as the Director of Public Relations and as the co-anchor of BNN, the BeulahNews Network.

    His life accomplishments reflect the grace and the favor bestowed upon by the Lord, the love and support afforded to him by his parents, Horace and Gwendolyn Hightower, and the guidance and protection given to him by his three older brothers, and the unconditional love of his niece and nephew.
