Anatomy and Physiology is a vital part of most healthcare post-secondary education programs. The Essentials of Healthcare is a medical focused anatomy course addressing the physiology of each body system, along with the investigation of common diseases, disorders, and emerging diseases. The prevention of disease and the diagnosis and treatment that might be utilized are addressed, along with medical terminology related to each system. This course provides an opportunity to demonstrate technical skills that enforce the goal of helping students make connections between medical procedures and the pathophysiology of diseases and disorders. The pre-requisite for this course is Introduction to Healthcare.

    Tutoring

Students will be given the opportunity to take advantage of tutoring sessions with me for 1 hour after school on Tuesday’s. Communication will be sent out later with the start date.

    Absences

If a student must be absent, it is the student’s responsibility to make arrangements for make-up work.

Excused Absences: If a student must be absent, it is the student’s responsibility to make arrangements for make-up work. Students should follow-up with me for any missed assignments on the first day they return to school. The number of days allowed to complete make-up work will not exceed the number of days absent. If absent on a test/quiz day, students must be ready to take the makeup test/quiz on the first day they return. Failure to comply with this procedure will result in a grade of zero (0) being given for graded assignments missed during an excused absence.

Unexcused absences: Students will not be allowed to make up graded assignments missed during an unexcused absence.

Absences due to suspension from school are considered unexcused. Students are allowed to make up schoolwork missed while suspended from school pending their disciplinary hearing. In situations where students are suspended from school during the period of semester exams, principals will make arrangements to allow students to complete their exams. In situations where Out of School Suspension is assigned, the ability to make-up any missed work is at the teacher’s discretion and students may not be offered to take the 3rd year Allied Health program.
