My name is Glenda Torres, and it's a privilege to be part of the World Language Department at Woodland High School, teaching Honors Spanish I, Honors Spanish III, and Spanish III this school year 2023- 24. I'm a native of Puerto Rico. I've been living in Georgia since January 2004.

I graduated from "Colegio Presbiteriano de Puerto Nuevo", a private high school.  I graduated with a B.S from the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus in Speech & Language Therapy. In 1996, I earned my M.S. with honors in Speech & Language Pathology from the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus. I worked for 14 years at Isaac Gonzalez Elementary School in Puerto Rico as the Speech Language Therapist and Pathologist working with deaf and hard of hearing, mental retardation and learning disabled children.

In 2004, my family and I moved to Georgia, and began a new adventure in our lives.  I began my teaching career in Morrow, Georgia at Mount Zion Christian Academy, a K--12 Christian school. There I was known as the "Spanish teacher", and my life was turned around. I started to work at Woodland High School in the second semester of 2009 - 2010. I've been teaching Spanish since September 2004, and I'm loving it every day more and more! ¡Viva el español! I also collaborate with Señorita Chisholm in the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (Spanish Honor Society). I coached JV and Varsity volleyball for 5 years. It was a very enriching and growing experience that gave me the opportunity to get to know the students in a different light outside the classroom.  Every school year is filled with new opportunities to build relationships that will last a lifetime.

Parents, please check the information on your class pages as well as Infinite Campus at your convenience, as I intend to be diligent with updating the grades for all of my students. If you ever have any questions, please contact me via e-mail. I do not check my email during the weekends or after school. glenda.torres@henry.k12.ga.us .
