I am Mrs. Chrishon Sims, a Woodland High School English Language Arts Teacher with a focus on American Literature and World Literature. I am excited to be the one charged with guiding your student to success in the areas of reading, language, composition, and the Georgia Milestone Assessment. Please make sure that you are signed up for Infinite Campus as I send messages via that platform consistently. Let's make it a wonderful year.
Remote Learning Information
Remote Learning Days for Henry County Public Schools begin on Monday, March 16, 2020. Students are expected to report to Google Classroom for instructions and assignments in American Literature, Read 180, and/or World Literature. There they will find weekly activities that are linked to many of the platforms they are used to using in class (e.g. HMH Online Textbook Platform, Membean, NoRedInk, Read180 Student App and Independent Reading, etc.).
Students should check Google Classroom often to stay informed and organized. I strongly suggest that students download the Google Classroom app to their cellular phones if they have a cellular phone available. The Google Classroom app will alert students of messages, assignments, and due dates that have been posted. Students will also be able to ask assignment-specific questions via Google Classroom.
The Woodland High School class schedule is as detailed below:
1st Period (8:15-9:05 AM)- English Language Arts/Reading
2nd Period (9:20-10:15 AM)- Math
3rd Period (10:20-11:05 AM) Science
4th Period (11:10 AM-12:30 PM)- Social Studies
5th Period (12:35-1:25 PM)- World Languages
6th Period (1:30-2:20 PM)- Fine Arts/PE
7th Period (2:25-3:15 PM)- CTAE
The schedule above reduces the need for students to feel pressured to focus on all classes at all times throughout the day. Although English Language Arts is scheduled for a 50-minutes block for students to ask questions, they are not limited from asking questions throughout the day. Please keep in mind that answers to questions will not always be delivered raipdly; a reponse may come within a 24-36 hours window.
I understand the sudden transition from traditional learning to remote learning may leave some of you wondering how it will all work out, but I am here to insure a flexible and smooth transition. We will get through this!
