Welcome to the World Language Department's home on the Woodland High School website. We are glad you stopped by to look around. If you look to the left of this page, you can find links to each teacher's website. There you might find some useful information about French and Spanish, the two languages available to students at WHS.

What exactly can be expected in a World Language class at Woodland High School? Language teachers and students will strive to achieve the goals laid out in our current mission statement:

Our goal in the World Language Department at WHS is to prepare students to understand and to interact with people from diverse cultures. At WHS World Language, classes are conducted primarily in the target language.  Teachers will model the target language and students will have ample opportunities to use the target language as the major means of communication inside and outside of the classrooms.  Developing cultural competency is crucial to linguistic proficiency. All language students become culturally competent by being exposed to the target language in a natural, culturally appropriate, and real-life context. Our proficiency goals are consistent with the standards set forth in the American Council for the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).

The five of us would like to welcome all of our students and parents on this journey around the world.
