How'd you do that? - ASU Scholarship Visit to DHS
When Principal Nicole Shaw wanted to bring opportunities and scholarships to Dutchtown High School she looked to her Alma Mater, The Alabama State University, and coordinated the visit and the college fair with ASU administrators. Two ASU buses pulled onto the DHS campus bringing nearly 70 students from the ASU Student Government Association, fraternities and sororities, and alumni. Principal Nicole Shaw, a former Miss Alabama State University Queen, highlighted the new Miss ASU Queen - Aleah Robinson and her royal court to bring the full HBCU college experience to the senior class.
Three deserving DHS students - Channing Wyatt, Antonio Mattox Jr., and Adrian Avery were awarded Full Ride Scholarships to the university. The scholarship recipients all agreed, “With student loan debt affecting so many families, this full ride makes all the difference.” But, the ASU administrators did not stop there. The biggest surprise came when it was also announced that any Senior at DHS with a 2.75 GPA, who wanted a scholarship, would receive one.
