Posted by:The academic calendar for the 2024-2025 school year and approved calendars for future years can be found on the district website at bit.ly/HCSCalendars. The calendar includes important dates such as breaks, holidays, and early release days.

Posted by:The first day of school is Thursday, August 1, 2024. Start times are as follows:
Elementary: 7:35 a.m.- 2:15 p.m.Middle: 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.
High: 8:15 a.m.- 3:15 p.m.

Is my student allowed to participate in middle school sports in sixth grade?
Posted by:Sixth graders are not allowed to participate in middle school sports. A student is eligible to participate in sports once as a seventh grader and once as an eighth grader, not to exceed two years regardless of the number of schools attended. For more information, click here.

Are there before or after school programs for students?
Posted by:The Before and After School Enrichment (BASE) Program provides tuition-based programs for elementary and middle school students. Before-school programs support early drop-off for middle school families and provide a safe, structured environment to prepare students for learning, while after-school programs offer elementary-aged students a safe and supportive environment following afternoon dismissal. Can my child be a car rider in the morning and bus rider in the afternoon?
Posted by:Yes, your child may be a car rider in the morning and a bus rider in the afternoon. Families establish daily transportation at the beginning of each school year and may contact the school to update transportation with any changes.

How do I get support for my student's HCS device?
Posted by:Students may contact their school's technology staff during normal school hours in order to troubleshoot issues with their device. Students or parents/guardians may submit a ticket through our Student Technology Help Desk at henry.incidentiq.com outside of school hours.

Who do I contact for Language Services?
Posted by:The Language Services team provides language assistance to families, schools, and district offices. If you have difficulty understanding English, you may request language assistance services from your student’s school or Language Services by calling 770-957-3945 or emailing languageservices@henry.k12.ga.us. The team is located at the Welcome Center at 166 Holly Smith Drive, McDonough, GA 30253. Handbooks are available in multiple languages, along with registration, enrollment, and other documents.

Posted by:Who should I contact if I have questions concerning my student's Individualized Education Program (IEP)?
Special Education services are provided to meet the needs of students with disabilities and for students in all eligibility areas recognized by the State of Georgia. If you suspect that your child has a disability, you should contact the Principal or Student Support Facilitator at your child's school. For more information on IEPs, contact the Exceptional Student Education Department at (770) 957-8086.

What mental health supports are available to students?
Posted by:School counselors, social workers, Mental Health and Wellness Facilitators, and school psychologists are available in all of our schools for students. School counselors and social workers can provide referrals to outside mental health clinicians for more intensive ongoing therapeutic services. The Georgia Crisis and Access Line (1-800-715-4225) and 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline are free resources available 24/7 to assist families experiencing a behavioral or mental health crisis.

What safety measures are in place to ensure safety in our schools?
Posted by:HCS utilizes a multi-layered approach to safety and security. Our safety strategy is one layer, along with well-trained school personnel. School Resource Officers are another layer of support. Additional layers include our anonymous tip line, “See Something, Say Something” at 770-220-7009, our emergency response system, and single-point entry at all schools and district offices. Each security layer works in tandem to ensure all HCS learning environments are safe and secure.

Posted by:Does my child need an updated immunization form to register? If so, what are the required immunizations for my student?
All enrolled HCS students are required to have a valid Form 3231, Form 3231 with medical exemption, or the notarized religious exemption Form 2208 for enrollment. Students also need the Ear, Eye, Dental & Nutrition Screening Form 3300. Please note: Henry County Schools staff cannot notarize any forms.
There are special requirements for all 7th- and 11th-grade students. For more information regarding school vaccinations, visit https://dph.georgia.gov/schoolvaccines. Students not in compliance are subject to withdrawal from school, see HCS Policy JBCD and Regulation JBCD (R)1. -
Where do I find my child's bus route information?
Posted by:Bus routes can be found here, and all families are encouraged to sign up for Here Comes the Bus. Henry County’s school code is 29902. The app is available in the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. If you have any questions, please contact Transportation.

How do I pay for school lunch?
Posted by:Henry County Schools uses online payment system LINQ Connect to accept payments for school lunch. Additionally, the application for free and reduced meals for 2024-2025 is available in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Learn more about these options in our FAQ and on our website.

What is the Parent Portal?
Posted by:The Infinite Campus Portal (also known as the “Parent Portal”) is a web-based program that provides parents and guardians the ability to view academic information for their student(s). The Parent Portal also allows families to update contact information, request transportation, and complete the federal lunch application.
