The Henry County School System's reputation for excellence continues to attract record numbers of students, with an enrollment over 42,000 students. There are 52 existing schools in Henry County, 1 alternative school, EXCEL Academy located in McDonough, and one evening academy located at the EXCEL Academy.
During the Fall 2009 semester, Clayton State University and Gordon College began offering college-level courses at the new Academy for Advanced Studies in McDonough at Henry County High School. In addition, Southern Crescent Technical College began offering courses from selected technical programs at this site.
