What recognition can I get at senior awards???
-
Note: There will be NO ROUNDING for GPA's. The county provides us with accurate GPA's for each student out to multiple decimal digits. In order to receive any of these honors listed below, you must be AT OR ABOVE the required GPA. For instance, if you have an 3.697 GPA, you DO NOT qualify for Academic Excellence.
Academic Excellence -
The first time a student achieves an overall average of 3.7 or higher, that student receives a varsity letter, pinned with a lamp of knowledge. In succeeding years, students who maintain that high average receive a pin marking each year of their achievement. Graduating seniors who have an average of 3.7 or higher receive not only letters or pins, but also red and white honor cords, the colors of Woodland High School, recognizing their achievement over four years.
Cum Laude -
Seniors with a grade point average (GPA) of 3.63-3.79 are noted as graduating cum laude, which means "with honors".
Magna Cum Laude -
Seniors who graduate with a grade point average (GPA) of 3.8-3.99 are said to be magna cum laude grads, which means "with great honors".
Summa Cum Laude -
Seniors who graduate with a grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 or higher for the four years of high school are said to be graduating summa cum laude, which means "highest honors".
**Please note...all of these honors/recognitions are based upon a county wide grade pull that happens in late April. They are not based on final grades or GPA's since those will not be finalized until classes are finished at the very end of the year.
**If you want any of the above honors, your grades and GPA's must be where they need to be at the grade pull in April. Even if you improve your GPA after the grade pull, you will not be able to be recognized with honors or a different level of honors.
