As a public school system in Georgia, Henry County Schools is required to administer all state mandated standardized assessments.  The current assessment system is the Georgia Milestones.  Each student in grades 6 and 7 are required to take the Georgia Milestones End of Grade Assessment in English Language Arts and Mathematics and each student in grade 8 is required to take the Georgia Milestones End of Grade Assessment in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.  Students at the 8th grade level are required to score at grade level on reading portion of the End of Grade Assessment and at the Developing level on the Mathematics assessment in order to be considered for promotion to the 9th grade.  Students who are not successful in the main administration of the assessments will have the opportunity for remediation and retesting.  

 

 

Those students who are enrolled in a high school level Math or Science class that possess a Georgia Milestone End of Course Assessment will not need to take the End of Grade, but will instead take the required End of Course Assessment.
