Highlights
The following school highlights are just a few of the things that make Impact Academy an amazing place to learn and grow! These four items should allow you to see the rigorous learning, diverse experiences, and supportive culture that exists in our school. In Henry County Schools, we believe in giving every student a high quality, world-class education and we believe these highlights display our passion and commitment to do just that.
Student Outcomes
"Impact Academy has definitely “impacted” my life. I came to Impact in the 8th grade for medical reasons, and the teachers and staff were automatically extremely accommodating. Today, I no longer have that same medical condition, and yet I chose to stay. Starting off with the teachers. They are amazing. I get ten times more one-on-one time with my teachers and more hands-on learning experiences.
Impact Academy has truly changed my life for the better. Without the staff here at Impact, I would not be graduating this spring with my class, and I will always be thankful for that.” 2022 Impact Academy Graduate – Catherine
Student Opportunities
At Impact Academy, students find flexibility and opportunity in a unique and supportive environment. Our teachers and staff strive to CONNECT and COLLABORATE with families seeking a different way to approach school. Impact Academy serves students in elementary, middle, and high school and includes gifted, 504, and ESE services. To help meet the needs of students and families, Impact Academy offers both fully virtual and blended learning program options for all grades, K-12, including our virtual Evening Academy for elementary students. In addition to being eligible to participate in all sports and extra-curricular activities through their home school, Impact Academy students also have opportunities to grow and make connections within our close-knit learning community through clubs and content-related small group learning experiences.High school students have the opportunity to take a variety of Advanced Placement and World Language courses and often appreciate the “real world” independence, time management, and study skills that our program scaffolds and fosters before graduation.Climate and Culture
It takes all the members of our Impact Academy learning community to make this an extraordinary place to learn, but our teachers are at the core of what makes Impact Academy special. The dedication and attention to student and parent relationships is at the center of our values. Impact Academy’s 2020-21 Teacher of the Year, Ms. Katey Hatfield, exemplifies how our teachers dedicate themselves to their students. As stated by one of her students,
“As a student who has been attending Impact Academy for six years, I am so happy to see Mrs. Hatfield receive the Teacher of The Year award. She has been my advisor, my teacher, and someone you can talk to if you are having a hard time with something. She is an amazing teacher and she treats every student, and staff member with the respect they deserve. I have had several teachers and although they all have been great, I would say Mrs. Hatfield has been the most encouraging when it comes to making decisions for my future. Mrs. Hatfield is a very loved teacher at Impact Academy because of the way she handles situations and in the way that she is always willing to help her students no matter the day or time.“
Extracurriculars
Although Impact Academy may be a very different learning environment, we do recognize that learning does not stop when students exit the classroom door. Clubs and activities are important to the social, emotional, and intellectual growth of a student. Impact Academy offers a wide variety of curricular and co-curricular activities from a nationally competitive middle school robotics team to a high school gaming club to nationally award-winning History Day competitors. There is something for everyone! This year was a particularly exciting year for our middle school Jr. Beta Club. As our first official year as a Jr. Beta Club recognized by the National Beta Club organization, Impact Academy had 50 students participate in our inaugural year. Impact Academy was able to participate virtually in the Georgia State Beta Convention, earning eight awards and advancing to the National Beta Convention this summer.
