As one first grade teacher states “We are always on a journey toward continuous improvement because when we know better, we do better!” Our teachers embody this by continuously collaborating to support each student in achieving their best.
Student Opportunities
The mission of Timber Ridge Elementary is to provide authentic learning opportunities which promote student agency and increase academic achievement for each student. At TRE, we know student opportunities can also extend beyond the traditional classroom setting or beyond a student’s grade level designation. That’s why we pride ourselves in offering accelerated math courses for both fourth and fifth grade students, and discovery and entrepreneurship opportunities in the form of STEM activities.
Our students look forward to attending Music, Physical Education, Art, Computer class, or participate in standards-aligned lessons in the Media Center each day. Through our Talent Development approaches, we have one of the largest gifted populations among elementary schools in the district and state. Our Titan students are also competitive at district, region, and state levels in the areas of literacy, writing, and social studies. For example, ten of our fourth grade students have recently published poetry writing samples in the Young American Poetry Digest. We are ecstatic to share the following recent student accolades with you:- A TRE 4th grade student placed first in the 2020-2021 district Literacy Days Poetry Recitation. She then placed 2nd at the Griffin RESA Literacy Days Competition.
- A TRE 2nd grade student placed 3rd in the 2020-2021 district Literacy Days Poetry Recitation.
- A TRE 1st grade student placed first in the district’s Young Georgia Authors Writing Competition. She then placed 1st at the regional competition.
- A TRE 4th grade student placed 3rd in the district’s Young Georgia Authors Writing competition.
- A TRE 5th grade student placed 2nd in the district’s Young Georgia Authors Writing competition.
In addition to these student accolades, Timber Ridge also has a large portion of the student body participating in TRE’s Jr. Beta Club. Our Beta Club has recently achieved National Beta School of Distinction status.
As you can see, opportunities for support, involvement, enrichment, and acceleration are endless at TRE! In the words of a 3rd grade TRE parent, “We specifically sought out Timber Ridge when we decided to relocate to Henry County because we heard about its positive reputation, supportive teaching staff, high standards and expectations for all, and rewarding experiences it affords students on a daily basis.”Climate and Culture
Timber Ridge Elementary is a family comprised of students, parents, and staff members who work diligently to provide a top-notch educational environment in which children thrive. Our positive school culture and climate is evident as soon as you step foot in the building. Our student enrollment numbers are steadily on the rise, and our staff has grown immensely in the past three years. This is truly a place where people want to live and work, and we embrace our growing community! Our staff retention rate is high, with more than 95% of teachers returning each school year.
It takes the collaborative effort of students, teachers, parents, contributing professionals, and school leaders working in unity to achieve high levels of academic success and opportunities. As such, we have recently implemented a PBIS program dedicated to using positive and proactive measures which focuses on improving student outcomes along a behavior and academic continuum.
The support of our Titan community, coupled with our strong partnership with our exceptional PTO, has been an invaluable resource for our students and staff! With the support of our PTO and community, TRE is able to offer annual events such as Fall Festival, Father Daughter Dance, Mother/Son Events, Gifted Showcase, Art Showcase, Curriculum Nights, Mini Relay for Life, and much more! The administrative team also conducts quarterly Town Hall Meetings with students and parents to discuss our monthly goals, accomplishments, areas for improvement, and address stakeholder questions or concerns.
At TRE, we aspire to be the best version of ourselves each day. This is evidenced by our very own Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Tabatha Wesley, representing the district as the Elementary Teacher of the Year for the 2020-2021 school year! In the words of Mrs. Wesley, “The relationships you build and impact you make daily in the classroom are the reasons why teachers show up to teach each day. We realize educating students begins with forming positive relationships. Kids need to know you care and trust that you provide a listening ear when they need you the most. As teachers, we have come to realize that we are truly better together!”
Extracurriculars
At Timber Ridge, we pride ourselves on offering students an array of opportunities beyond the general educational setting. We understand students find success across a wide range of settings and activities. We want to be a part of the exploration as students discover their interests, passions, talents, and strengths. Beyond the content, our extracurricular activities are designed to increase positive social interactions, build leadership skills, and enhance community involvement. As stated by one of our fourth grade students, “I enjoy my involvement in the Dance Club and Beta Club because it allows me to form friendships and give back to my community through service projects such as the Can Food Drive and Sock Drive.” At TRE, we strive to continuously evaluate and align our opportunities to the needs and desires of our students and community. Our extracurricular programs include the following:
Music Club, Art Club, Beta Club, Chess Club, Dance Club, Good News Club, Reading Bowl, Running Club, Titan News Broadcast, Student Ambassadors, Student Council, Tennis Club, Yearbook Club, Homeless Pet Project, Running Club, and GCEE Econ Games.

The Georgia Student Health Survey is given to all k-12 students in Georgia in the spring of each school year. It is composed of a variety of questions that help our district better understand the student experience in our schools. The literacy information is calculated as the percentage of students reading on or above grade level determined by scores on the Milestones End-of-Grade assessments for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade in English Language Arts. Each of these data components can be viewed for the previous three years. For more information about these measurements, please access the Timber Ridge Elementary School website.
