Student Outcomes
LGE experienced an increase in CCRPI from the 2018 SY to the 2019 SY. This increase is a result of data-driven instruction, collaborative planning, and the implementation of research-based instructional practices. In addition, LGE has established a school goal of students performing at 80% and above on local and school-based assessments, which is monitored throughout the year.
Student Opportunities
To support student success, we offer a variety of opportunities for enrichment and re-engagement. Examples include: After school tutorials, Saturday school, Talented and Gifted program, Accelerated Math, and Early Intervention Program. Locust Grove Elementary also provides support to our families through our Title I Parent Resource room where parents are able to check out instructional material to support their child in a targeted area.Monthly parent information sessions are also provided to strengthen the home-to-school connection. Such sessions have included Homework Help, STEM night, Math and Literacy Nights, and Dine and Data.Climate and Culture
Locust Grove Elementary is a “generational” school. We have hosted generations of residential families for many years. A visit to our school feels like a homecoming! LGE is an environment that embodies the statement, “We Are All In This Together -Teachers, Parents, Students!” Our purpose is to cultivate a learning environment that promotes critical thinking, collaboration and support. Here at LGE, we feel it is our purpose to provide students the opportunities to effectively communicate their ideas. Through communication and collaborative efforts with all stakeholders, we are committed to providing rigorous and relevant instruction to all students. It is our mission to establish life-long learners and critical thinkers. How do we do this? By ensuring that all students are successful at each grade level by demonstrating mastery of state standards and district competencies. Our goal is to create young adults who are college or career-ready.
PBIS
Our school is guided by the core principles of PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) which are: Effectively teach appropriate behavior to all children, intervene early before unwanted behaviors escalate, and use research-based, scientifically validated interventions whenever possible.
Parental Involvement
Locust Grove Elementary believes that parent involvement means the participation of parents in regular two-way, and meaningful communication involving student academic learning and other school activities. We believe that parents play an integral role in assisting their child’s learning. Parents are encouraged to be actively involved in their child’s education at school. Parents are full partners in their child’s education.

The Georgia Student Health Survey is given to all k-12 students in Georgia in the spring of each school year. It is composed of a variety of questions that help our district better understand the student experience in our schools. The literacy information is calculated as the percentage of students reading on or above grade level determined by scores on the Milestones End-of-Grade assessments for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade in English Language Arts. Each of these data components can be viewed for the previous three years. For more information about these measurements, please access the Locust Grove Elementary School website.
