Mr. Michael Browning
My name is Michael Browning and I am a resident of Henry County and a product of this great school system. Growing up, I attended Austin Road Elementary, Middle and Stockbridge High School. Upon graduating in 2008, I attended the University of West Georgia seeking a degree in Music Education. During the second semester of my sophomore year, I changed my major to Middle Grades Education with a concentration in Language Arts and Social Studies. I thrived in this program and became enthused to learn how to teach and reach students with a wide range of needs.
For two amazing years, I taught at the school I interned and student taught in before graduating in 2013, Bowdon Middle School in Bowdon, Ga. There, I taught 6th grade English Language Arts and Social Studies, assistant coached our baseball team to a championship, and taught Chorus. I completed my Master’s Degree of Accomplished Teaching in Curriculum and Instruction, online, from Columbus State during the Summer of 2016.
Since beginning my journey here at Austin Road Middle School as a teacher, I have hit the ground running to help make ARMS the best school in Henry County. I have had the pleasure of working with 7th and 8th grade students, teaching Social Studies. I led the initiative for PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) and coach softball. I am honored to be named Teacher of the Year for this 2017 school year.
I am so proud of all the accomplishments of Austin Road Middle School, and I’m excited about what great things are in store for this school year!
Jaguar Pride!
