Greetings and welcome to a new year at Austin Road Middle School! My name is Ms. Tierra Rodgers, and I am lucky to be your child’s new 6th grade math teacher this year. To tell you a little about myself, I graduated from Kennesaw State University with a BS in Middle School Education with emphasizes in Math and Science. I was borm in Minneapolis, MN and moved with my family to Marietta, GA in 2008, so I am new to Henry County Schools as of this year. I have three siblings and two loving parents, and I am an auntie of three, soon to be four this year! Some of my interests include traveling, spending time with my family and friends, and trying new foods.
Math has always been a favorite subject of mine ever since I was in preschool, and my love for math continues to grow as it is applied to my everday life! I decided that I wanted to do nothing more than share my love for math with young schloars and give it a new fun rep!
With that being said, your child is in for a load of vigorous course material this year. Throughout the semester, we will be covering topics of the number system, ratios, epressions, statistics, and more! I would also like to make a point that I want your child to feel as safe as possible physically and mentally in my classroom. This is why I have organized a set up that will ensure your child’s success, starting with my classroom rules and procedures. Respect and responsibility are key. As your child’s teacher, I will do my best to be sure your child’s academic needs are met, and in exchange, it is important to me that every student show a level of respect not only to me but themselves and other classmates as well. I have attached a detailed copy of both my rules and procedures along with this letter in hopes that we can work as team to ensure your child’s success.
I deeply encourage open communication between myself and parents. Please feel free to contact me using my email at tierra.rodgers@henry.k12.ga.us if you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns about your child or my class. Additionally, you can access me at the school's phone at (770) 507- 5407 if you would like to set up a meeting.
Again, I am excited to be working with you and your child this year, and I thank you for your time in reading this overview.
Cheers to new beginnings!
