One of the primary goals of Mt. Carmel's Personalized Learning Plan was to create dynamic classrooms where students are:

    • Engaging in "Expeditions" which are rigorous, relevant and authentic learning experiences during Science and Social Studies content areas.  Expeditions are designed to integrate Reading for Information, Research, Writing, and Listening & Speaking Standards throughout the learning experience.

    • Developing as 21st Century Learners through critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity to enable them to be college, career, and life-ready.

    • Taking ownership of their learning through understanding their learning targets, knowing where they are and where they need to be in the learning process, and setting their own goals to reach those learning targets.

    • Going deeper and moving on when ready through the Henry County Teaching and Learning Standards.

    • Utilizing a learner profile to build a portfolio of interests, habits, dispositions, academic, social/emotional growth, and showcase of knowledge/mastery.

    • Leveraging technology for both content mastery and transforming the ways in which they demonstrate their learning.
