Mr. Jesse J. Walker, III
I am a native Pontiac, Michigan yet I spent the majority of my childhood in Decatur, Georgia as the youngest of five children. I hail from a family lineage of numerous educators as I am a third generation educator. My parents upheld education as one of the pillars of our family values. Upon graduation from Southwest DeKalb High School, I accepted a band scholarship to Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama. In concert with a four generation family legacy at ASU, I became the 27th member of my family to graduate in August 1999.
During my educational career, I have been honored to serve in the following capacities: Third grade (self-contained), Fourth and Fifth grade Mathematics, Middle School Mathematics and Social Studies, High School Social Studies, Assistant Band Director/Percussion Instructor Druid Hills High School, and Adjunct Professor of Reading, Mathematics, and English at Georgia Piedmont Technical College.
As I embark upon year 23 in Education, I am delighted to serve as 7th Grade Academy R Leader, 7th Grade Science teacher, and the Head Coach of the 7th Grade Lady Jaguars Basketball team . The 7th grade team has reached the playoffs for the past three consecutive seasons (last year's team was a semi-finalist). #goladyjaguars
In the religious community, I serve as the Youth Pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Stockbridge.
My greatest honors are being the husband of Casandra Lewis Walker and the father of two children: Noelle (Jonathan) who is an educator in Clayton County Schools and Jace who is a 7th grader at ARMS.
Education is not just a career for me, its in my blood, its the air I breathe, its my purpose of living. I love being a educator for there is nothing else I rather be.
