•  Trish McDonald-Head Coach

I am entering my 23rd year teaching elementary physical education (20 years at East Lake Elementary & 3 years at Bethlehem Elementary).  I have lived in Henry County my entire life. I grew up in McDonough and went all the way through the public school system. I'm a proud graduate of Henry County High School (c/o '97). After high school I went on to Gordon College in Barnesville where I received a tennis scholarship.  After attending Gordon for two years I then transferred to Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, GA. While there I had the opportunity to walk-on and play Division II collegiate tennis for the Bobcats. During my two years of playing for GC&SU I received the honor of being recognized as an Academic All-American.  I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Health and Physical Education K-12, and I graduated with Honors (Cum Laude). I received my Master's degree in curriculum & instruction from Central Michigan University. I earned my Specialist Degree from Lincoln Memorial University in 2013.  I am also a PTR (Professional Tennis Registry) Certified Tennis Instructor. My ranking is that of a "professional".  I recently earned another Professional PTR Certification rating for Juniors ages 11-17.

While growing up in McDonough I was heavily involved in sports. My big three were softball, tennis, and basketball. I'm a huge University of Georgia fan.  My hobbies include working out, shopping, and signing up for 5K Runs with my friends. The role models in my life are definitely my parents.  My parents have been married for 52 years and are my biggest supporters! I have an older brother who to this day, still drives me crazy!

I am entering my 24th year coaching high school tennis.  My first 4 years were spent at my alma mater (Henry County) and my last 19 years have been coaching the girls team at Union Grove.  We have always had a very successful program here at Union Grove and I'm looking forward to many more great seasons!
