Major Clint A. Houchins, USMC (Ret)
Major Clint Houchins enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in December 1997. Following successful completion of Recruit Training aboard MCRD Parris Island, SC, Private First Class Houchins reported to duty with Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in June 1998. Having been meritoriously promoted to Corporal in 1999, he was then selected to attend Officer Candidates School, Quantico, VA.
Receiving his commission to 2nd Lieutenant in December 2000, he was then assigned to 2nd Supply Battalion, 2nd Force Service Support Group, MCB Camp Lejeune, NC. During his 3 year tour with 2nd Supply Battalion Lieutenant Houchins serviced as OIC, Customer Service, Intermediate Supply Support Activity, Battalion Adjutant and Battalion Legal Officer. In May 2004 Lieutenant Houchins was assigned to 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. In February 2005 he was sent to Afghanistan as the Logistics Operations Officer assigned to the CJ-4 logistics directorate as part of Combined Forces Command-Afghanistan, Kabul, Afghanistan.
Upon returning to Hawaii then Captain Houchins served as the 3rd Marine Regiment Supply Officer. Once leaving Hawaii in May 2007 Captain Houchins reported to 6th Marine Corps Recruiting District, Eastern Recruiting Region, Parris Island, SC as the District Supply/S-4A Officer. Upon completion of this tour of duty Captain Houchins was promoted to Major and reported to Headquarters and Service Battalion, MCRD Parris Island, SC as the OIC, Recruit Clothing. In May 2012 he was reassigned as the Operations Officer, Combat Logistics Battalion-7, Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, CA.
Within days of reporting to CLB-7 Major Houchins was assigned as the OIC, Combat Service Support Kandak-Advisor Team. In October 2012 he led an embeded training team of Marines and Sailors to Delaram, Afghanistan where they spent 7 months conducting training and combat operations with an Afghan National Army logistics battalion. Returning home in April 2013 Major Houchins was approved for retirement and left active duty in June 2013 and retired September 2013. After a short stint in the corporate workforce Major Houchins became the Senior Naval Science Instructor for the Warhawk Battalion on 1 Dec. 2014.
Major Houchins personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (2) and the National Defense Service Medal.
Major Houchins has a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from LaGrange College as well as a Master of Arts in Management from Webster University. He also graduated from numerous service schools including United States Marine Corps Expeditionary Warfare School, Supply Officer Crs, Tactical Logistics Officer Crs, Marine Advisor Crs (Gold), and Marine Corps University Command and Staff College.
Born and raised in Rockdale County, Georgia, Major Houchins is married to the former Ashley Groover of Rex, Georgia and they have a daughter Grayce and son Grant. They currently reside in Henry County, Ga.
