Welcome to Spanish. I am so excited about this year at McDonough High School. This year we will be learning the basics in a foreign language and begin communicating in Spanish if you are in a level I class. Spanish I, I hope will be an enjoyable class where you see immediately the usefulness of it out in the community. I am a graduate of the University of South Carolina and have been teaching for over 26 years. I have taught in South Carolina and Georgia in both middle and high schools. I grew up speaking both Spanish and English as my mother is Puerto Rican and my father was Cuban.
Spanish II students, we will be using all that we learned last year and expounding on it. The class is held mostly in Spanish so active listening is a must. This year we will learn a lot of grammar so that in Level III you can do more reading stories and writing your own as well.
Spanish III and IV we will be working story telling, culture, harder grammar concepts and Speaking. We will be building on what you already know and expound on it so that you can have a better proficiency level than the one you enter the class.
Should you have any questions concerning the curriculum please do not hesitate in getting in touch with me. I welcome your questions or problems you feel your child may be having.
I look forward to working with you this school year.
