• MHS SGAThe purpose of the McDonough High School Student Government Association shall be to serve as an official medium through which students' ideas and opinions may be presented for faculty and administrative actions; to serve as a governing body (with faculty supervision) for the development, promotion, and administration of student affairs; to give organized student support to educational, recreational, social, and charitable activities initiated and sponsored by the school, and thus form a closer relationship between the students, faculty, and administration. This organization shall also serve to further and improve student participation in school activities and promote school spirit and morale.

    WANT TO BE A MEMBER? 

    The McDonough High School Student Government Association shall consist of a Student Body Council, including a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Historian, and two (2) Student Body Representatives. Each class (9th -12th) shall consist of a Class President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and two (2) Class Representatives. ALL elected officers are expected to attend all bi-monthly Student Government Association meetings and ALL Student Government Association-sponsored events. Furthermore, all elected officers MUST abide by the following rules and regulations to remain in office:

    1. ALL officers must always maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher. If officers fail to maintain a 2.5 GPA, a warning will be issued. If an officer’s grades do not improve by the next quarter, the officer will be removed from office, based on the recommendation of the class advisor(s) and class administrator.
    2. ALL officers must not be found responsible for minor or major Student Conduct Violations.
    3. ALL officers must regard their office in higher esteem than any other sport, club, job, or any other school activity during membership.
    4. ALL officers must dress in required McDonough High School Student Government Association or business professional attire EVERY Wednesday, during school hours, and for all Student Government Association-sponsored events.

    The McDonough High School Student Government Association will not discriminate based on age, color, gender, disability status, national origin, political persuasion, sexual orientation, race, or religion.

     

    MCDONOUGH HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT BODY OFFICER REQUIREMENTS:

    SGA PRESIDENT: Eligible candidates must be a rising SENIOR and have been an SGA or Class officer with at least one year prior service.

    SGA VICE PRESIDENT: Eligible candidates must be a rising SENIOR and have been an SGA or Class officer with at least one year prior service.

    SGA SECRETARY: Eligible candidates must be a rising SENIOR and have been an SGA or Class officer with at least one year prior service.

    SGA TREASURER: Eligible candidates must be a rising SENIOR and have been an SGA or Class officer with at least one year prior service.

    SGA HISTORIAN: Eligible candidates must be a rising SENIOR and have been an SGA or Class officer with at least one year prior service.

     

    MCDONOUGH HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OFFICER ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

    9th – 11th PRESIDENT, VICE PRESIDENT, SECRETARY, TREASURER, AND CLASS REPRESENTATIVE: Eligible candidates must be a rising Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior and have been actively involved in Student Government Association or Class activities.

     

    DUES

    $61 for the 2021 - 2022 school year. You will use MySchoolBucks to submit payment. 

    • Includes an MHS SGA polo shirt and MHS SGA embroidered sweater vest.

    MONTHLY MEETINGS AND VOLUNTEER WORK:

    SGA will meet once a month in the Chorus Room (205) and volunteer once a month.
