Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Alexis Welch, Ed.S.

I am a proud graduate of Henry County Schools. After high school, I attended Georgia Southern University and returned to Henry County to teach special education. I earned my masters and education specialist degrees from Valdosta State University. Over the course of my career, I've taught learners in grades K-12 who have moderate-profound intellectual disabilities, autism, and multiple disabilities. My passion is working with students who have complex medical and communication needs. I am a lifelong learner and enjoy constantly learning new ways to enhance my practice. My approach to teaching is multi-sensory and culturally competent-based. I love incorporating assistive technology into my lessons as much as possible. I believe that EVERY student deserves a way to communicate along with a nurturing, academically challenging environment.

In addition to teaching, I enjoy designing curriculum, presenting at conferences, mentoring new teachers, coaching parents, and advocacy work. I love meeting others in the disability community. I am a certified Special Olympics coach for multiple sports.

In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, reading, sewing, being a foodie, and attending sporting events and concerts!
