UGHS Chapter of Mu Alpha Theta

Purpose of UGHS Chapter of Mu Alpha Theta:

To promote scholarship in and enjoyment and understanding of mathematics among Union Grove High School students. To promote dedication to mathematics, its learning, understanding and positive reception in our school and community.

Any student who meets the following criteria will be eligible for membership in the Union Grove Chapter of Mu Alpha Theta:

1. A student who has completed the equivalent of two years of college preparatory mathematics in grades 9-12 and has also completed or is currently enrolled in a third college preparatory mathematics course.

2. A student who has completed the above courses with distinction, maintaining at least an 88 numeric average unweighted in these mathematics courses on the 4-point grading scale.

3. A student who has exhibited an exemplary commitment to mathematics and its understanding, by participating in at least 20 hours of extracurricular mathematics activities. (Requirement for existing members to continue membership)

Any student who meets and has maintained the above criteria by May 1 of their senior year will be eligible for Mu Alpha Theta Graduation Honor Cords (blue and gold cords) and application to the Mu Alpha Theta Stanfield Legacy Scholarship.
