    Welcome to Fabulous First Grade! My name is Shakira Shaw and I am a first grade teacher here at Mt. Carmel Elementary School. I am glad to have you be a part of my class! I am ready to have a fun-filled year of learning and growing! Here's a little information about myself. I am a native of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. My family and I relocated to Georgia in 2007. I have been teaching for 25 years, most of those in first grade, which is where my heart is. I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and also a Masters degree in Elementary Reading.  I enjoy working with and being around children. It brings me joy to see how a seed develops into a beautiful flower during the course of the year.
