Mr.  Lukat has been teaching since 2001.  He graduated from Morrow High School where he was a Saxophonist in the band program.  He Participated in District Honor Bands, All-State bands, Jazz All-State bands, and several clinic honor bands achieving principal chair in all.  He also participated in the Governor's Honors Program in Jazz Studies.  He then earned a Bachelor's Degree of Music in Woodwind Performance with a specialization in Jazz Studies from Loyola University New Orleans.  He studied with John Ellis, Tony DeGradi, John Mahoney, Michael Pellera, and Joseph Hebert.  He returned to school and earned a Masters in Music Education from Georgia College and State University.  

   After college, Mr. Lukat returned to the Atlanta area and began his teaching career at Adamson Middle School in Clayton County.  He has also taught at Kelsey Middle School, Rehoboth Road Middle School, and Spalding High School in Spalding County.  He has been the Director of Band and Chorus at Henry County High School and McDonough High School since 2014.

   While in New Orleans, he maintained a professional career playing all styles of music around the city.  He was able to perform with many of the city's top musical acts including appearances at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, Festival International, Snug Harbor, the Sanger Theater, LaPetitte Theater, and many more. He continues to play professionally as a freelance instrumentalist all over the Southeast United States and is a member of the Sentimental Journey Orchestra.  He also serves as a sound and recording engineer for acts in the area.

    Mr. Lukat is married to Emily Lukat and has one daughter named Morgan.  He shares his passion for teaching with virtually his whole family who are also in the education field.  It is my hope and goal to help my students develop not only skill in music, but also a love for performing, an outlet for expression, an appreciation for good music, and a character that will serve them in any field they wish to pursue.
