    Introduction

Through rifle there is a large variety of things that will benefit the NJROTC cadet that decides to do this sport. This is a prestigious sport and does require the cadet to pass a safety test before they ever touch an air rifle and they also have to go through three weeks worth of try-outs. Once a cadet passes AND performs well in the final match at the end of tryouts starts out as a sporter shooter. The cadet moves up to precision when ready for the more advanced shooting. The cadet also becomes a part of the Civilian Marksmanship Program, and is eligible to earn special medals called EIC badges. They can earn either Junior bronze, silver, and distinguished badges, 30 EIC points are required to earn the distinguished badge and they can earn this by competing in matches that give these points towards cadets who place in those particular matches.
