One of the most important things a teacher can do to help students succeed is to get to know their students.  In that spirit, I'd like to share a bit about myself as we get to know each other.

I was born in New Jersey and moved to Georgia when I was in 7th grade.  I attended Stockbridge Junior High (as it was called back then) and graduated from Stockbridge High School.  I graduated summa cum laude from Georgia State University in 2003 with my bachelors in Middle Grades Education.  My concentrations are in Mathematics and Social Studies.  In 2010, I received my certificate to teach gifted classes.  I began teaching at Austin Road Middle and transferred to Ola Middle when we opened in 2006.  This is my 21st year teaching.  I taught 8th grade Georgia Studies for 8 years and this is my 13th year teaching 6th grade Math.

I could not imagine having any other job.  I love that every day is different!  I love working with this age group and seeing them mature throughout the year.  I love that one day they want to be treated like an adult and the next they want hugs again!  The best part of moving down to 6th grade is that I still get two more years to see their beautiful faces around the halls before they move over to the building next door.  This age is an adventure and I'm looking forward to being a part of your child's life - even if it's for a brief time.

My husband and I just celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary this past summer. We have 4 children - two girls and two boys.  Ranging in age from 16 to 5.

I'm looking forward to a great year!  Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns!
