Hello! My name is Melissa J. Walker. I am pleased to share a little about myself with each of you. I am beginning my 25th year of teaching. I have been blessed to be a member of the Dutchtown Elementary Bulldog Pups crew for 3 years now!
I am a Leukemia survivor of 12 years since my diagnosis in May of 2011. I attended Henry County schools as a child and graduated from Stockbridge High School in 1994. I attended Shorter University for two years and went on to complete my Bachelor of Arts in Education at Piedmont College. I began teaching at Pate's Creek in August of 1999, and I completed my Master of Arts in Education through Piedmont College in 2002. I am a Gifted Certified teacher as well. I came to Dutchtown Elementary School in August of 2020.
I am a very big lover of music! I enjoy playing the piano, saxophone, and flute. I enjoy singing, and of course, listening to all types of music! I also enjoy riding roller coasters, reading, swimming, spending time with my family, and taking trips to new and exciting places!
I love the beach and hope to travel to see Europe one day! I am a huge UGA Bulldog fan and love watching college football. I enjoy going to Braves games too! I love chocolate, Dr. Pepper Zero, pistachios, and kettle cooked chips. My favorite restaurants are Olive Garden, Zaxby's, Chick-Fil-A, and Mesquite Mexican Grill. I LOVE the Varsity and go whenever I get the chance!
