    Ms. Akins

Born and raised in Atlanta, GA. I attened Atlanta Public Schools. I graduated from high school in 1992. After graduating from high school, I joined the GA Air National Guard.  I stayed in the military for 13 yrs.  When I got out the military, I became an afterschool teacher and substitute for Henry County schools.

After being in those roles, I decided to go to school to become a teacher.  I attended Mercer University and finished in 2013.  After completing college, I became a paraprofessional for Butts County School System.  After leaving BCS, I started working for the Fulton County School System as a 5th grade teacher for four years and a 3rd grade teacher for one. I joined Henry County Schools in 2019 as a 5th graded teacher.

My new role for the 23-24 school year is IEF (Instructional Effectiveness Facilitator) for DES.  I look forward to a great year at DES.
