• Hi, my name is Mrs. Karen Schmidt and I am honored to serve as the Student Support Facilitator for Dutchtown Elementary.  This is my third year in the SSF role and I am excited to continue to support our students and families.  I have been a teacher for 28 years and most of my experience has been working with students receiving special education services.  I have worked with students in Ohio, Kentucky, and Wisconsin before moving to Georgia in 2005.

I earned my BS from the University of Cincinnati (Go Bearcats!), my Master's from Northern Kentucky University, and my Specialist degree from Georgia College and State University.

My husband and I have three beautiful daughters and two grandchildren with a third expected in October.  We also have a fur baby, Marley who joined our family this year.  When I am not at DES, I enjoy reading, crafting, and boating with my family on Lake Hartwell.
