  • Greetings Luella High School Students and Families,

Welcome back to another exciting year at Luella High School! I hope this letter finds you well-rested, rejuvenated, and ready for the incredible journey ahead. Whether you're returning or starting with us for the first time, we're thrilled to have you as part of our school community.

This year, our theme is "Keep the Change," and we are thrilled to embark on this transformative journey together. "Keep the Change" symbolizes our commitment to not just accept but embrace and sustain the positive changes that lead to growth, achievement, and continuous improvement. Our goal is to rise to new heights in academic excellence, personal development, and community engagement, ensuring that every step forward is a lasting change for the better.

Allow me to introduce myself – I am Brandi Hardnett, and I am honored to serve as the principal of Luella High School. My journey in education began with the Griffin-Spalding School System, and over the years, I have been fortunate to serve in various roles, including mentor, Interrelated Special Education Teacher, Middle Grades Mathematics Teacher, Grade Level Chair, Department Chair, and Assistant Principal. Most recently, as a School Improvement Facilitator with Henry County Schools, I had the privilege of working closely with building-level administrators and instructional coaches across eleven middle schools. Together, we identified educational and instructional needs, developed both long-term and short-term goals, and crafted action plans aimed at enhancing instructional practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Academia has been in my blood my entire life. As the daughter of a retired educator, I was raised to assume the role of a servant leader. Since embarking upon my journey in education, it has been my goal to lead a school, which I would be proud to enroll my own children. I believe in cultivating a school culture that is focused on supporting both the academic and social-emotional development of students.  Our exceptional team of educators is fully committed to providing innovative and engaging learning experiences that cater to diverse learning styles and interests. We understand that each student has a unique path to success, and we are here to guide and support them every step of the way.

But excellence doesn't stop at academics. It extends to character development, leadership skills, and contributing positively to our wider community. We believe that by fostering a culture of empathy, respect, and collaboration, we can inspire our students to become responsible global citizens who are poised to make a difference in the world.

As we embark on this journey of "Keeping the Change," I encourage students to set personal goals, take on challenges, and embrace new opportunities. Together, we will celebrate achievements both big and small, and learn from the valuable experiences that come our way.

To our families, your partnership is crucial. We invite you to actively engage in your child's education, whether by attending school events, communicating with teachers, or volunteering. Your support enhances the learning journey for our students and strengthens our school community.

Stay connected with us through our website and social media platforms to receive updates on school events, important dates, and exciting news. We look forward to sharing this year's accomplishments and experiences with you.

Here's to a year of growth, determination, and reaching new levels of excellence. Welcome back to the Lions’ Den!

    With LION Pride,

    Brandi N. Hardnett
