• What Are the Pyramids of Intervention?

Pyramids of Interventions is a systematic approach for providing student interventions. It identifies struggling students before they fall behind and provides support throughout the educational process.

Tier 1:  The Standards Based Learning
This tier addresses the needs of the regular classroom based on Georgia Performance Standards.  Teachers use research-based strategies and on-going assessment to check student progress.  Flexible grouping and differeniated instruction allows the classroom teacher to provide for individual students' needs.

Tier 2:  Students that are not being successful in Tier 2 would receive more focussed instruction.  This instruction may be provided through smaller flexible groups, Early Intervention or Title 1 services.  Progress is monitored frequently to determine response to intervention.

Tier 3:  Students that are not being successful in Tier 3 would be referred by their teacher to the Student Support Team.  Periodic meetings would be held with the parent, teacher, and SST to implement a plan for supplemental instruction.  Progress is monitored frequently to determine response to intervention.  If adequate progress is not made the student may be referred for further evaluation.
