Art Club
Sponsor- Ms. Geter
Purpose-The purpose of an art club is to create art and serve as a vital platform for fostering creativity, personal expression, and social interaction among young students. One of the primary goals is to encourage creativity by allowing children to explore different art forms, materials, and techniques. This exploration helps them develop their artistic skills and ignites their imagination, leading to innovative thinking and problem-solving abilities that are valuable in all areas of learning.
Basketball Team
Sponsor - Coach Williams
Purpose - The basketball team serves multiple significant purposes that extend beyond just the game itself. It provides young students with an opportunity to engage in physical activity, teaches children valuable life skills and provides a platform for social interaction and fun. Team sports require cooperation, communication, and teamwork. Children learn the importance of working together towards a common goal, understanding different roles within a team, and supporting one another. These experiences can foster a sense of community and belonging, boost self-esteem, and teach resilience as they navigate wins and losses together.
Beta Club
Sponsors: Ms. Slaughter and Ms. Neal
Purpose: The National Beta Club is an organization for 4th through 12th grade students in the United States. Its purpose is "to promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, leadership and service among elementary and secondary school students."
Cheerleaders
Sponsor: Ms. Neal
Purpose: Cheerleading is about fostering a sense of community and school spirit among young students. These teams encourage children to take pride in their school and support their peers, which in turn can help build a more cohesive and positive school environment. By participating in cheerleading, students learn to work together towards common goals, enhancing their teamwork and collaboration skills.
Chorus and Honor Chorus
Sponsor: Mr. Refuss
Purpose: The purpose of chorus is to introduce students to the joy and discipline of group singing, fostering an early appreciation for music. Through regular practice, students develop their vocal skills, learn to read music, and understand basic musical concepts such as rhythm, pitch, and harmony.
Bobcat News Team
Sponsor: Mrs. Camp
Purpose: The school news team serves as an informative platform that keeps students and teachers updated on the latest events, achievements, and important announcements within the school community.
Math Team
Sponsor: Ms. Early
Purpose: The Math Team fosters a deep appreciation for mathematics and cultivates critical thinking abilities among young students.
Helen Ruffin Picture Bowl and Reading Bowl Teams
Sponsors: Mrs. Camp, Mrs. Scott, Mrs. Mantuano and Mrs. Neal
Purpose: The Picture Bowl team is for students in 2nd and 3rd grades. The Reading Bowl team is for 4th and 5th grade students. Students will read books from the Georgia Picture Book and Book Awards list and participate in a competitive game format, where students are questioned about the content of the 20 Georgia Book Award list.
Robotics Team
Sponsor: Ms. Anna Johnson
Purpose: The purpose of this team is to introduce students to the fundamentals of robotics and programming in an engaging and hands-on manner. By working with simple robots, students can explore basic concepts such as coding, engineering, and problem-solving.
Tomorrow's Teachers Today
Sponsors: Ms. Tara Johnson and Ms. Gerald
Purpose: To inspire students in grades 3-8 to pursue careers as educators. We firmly believe that with excellent teachers (PEG: Passion, Expertise, Guidance) as mentors we can ignite the spark of interest in young minds and sow the seeds of future educational leaders.
