    AP Spanish Language is a course designed for the highly motivated fourth- or five-year student to gain proficiency in speaking, reading, writing, and listening in Spanish.  This is a third-year college equivalent offered at the high-school level in which a student can earn college credit with successful completion of the AP Spanish Language Examination offered in May by the College Board or by a college placement test.  At the end of this course, students are expected to be able to (1) comprehend formal and informal Spanish, (2) speak with a moderate degree of fluency, (3) read a variety of literary texts, (4) write a cogent, sophisticated composition in Spanish, and, most importantly synthesize these skills.  A solid grade of “B” is suggested in the preceding course to be eligible for the Advanced Placement class.  Students should expect to spend an average of one hour per night preparing for this course.
