• Parent & Family Engagement Plan 2022-23  

    Our Parent and Family Engagement Plan describes how Hickory Flat Elementary School will provide opportunities to improve parent and family engagement to support student learning. HFE values the contributions and involvement of parents and family members to establish an equal partnership for the common goal of improving student achievement. This Plan describes ways HFE will support parent and family engagement and how parents will plan and participate in activities to promote student learning both in school and at home.

    Hickory Flat Elementary invites all parents and family members to attend Input Meetings, held each Spring and Fall, to review and revise this Parent and Family Engagement Plan and School-Parent Compact, as well as review the Continuous Schoolwide Improvement Plan (CSIP), Title I Budget which includes the 1% set-aside for Parent and Family Engagement. Parents and families are asked for ideas on staff training for family engagement. The Plan will be available on HFE’s website to view and provide feedback throughout the year. All feedback received during the year will be used to revise the Parent & Family Engagement Plan in the next school year.  An annual survey is distributed to solicit suggestions from parents and families regarding the Parent and Family Engagement Plan and use of Title I funds for parent and family engagement. Any unsatisfactory comments about the Schoolwide Plan are shared with the HCS District Office.

    As a Title I school, all students and families at Hickory Flat Elementary School are encouraged to fully participate in the opportunities described within this Plan. Hickory Flat Elementary Schools provides the opportunity for the participation of parents and families with limited English, disabilities, and of migratory children.

    Upon the annual revision of the Parent and Family Engagement Plan, the finalized document is distributed to each student to bring home. Parents are asked to sign and return an Acknowledgement Form to confirm receipt of the Plan.  The Parent and Family Engagement Plan is also available in the Family Resource Center (FRC), on the school website, and will be presented at the Annual Title I Parent Meeting in the Fall.
