• At Hickory Flat Elementary School we implement a Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) system. PBIS focuses on rewarding positive behavior at school. This approach is designed to increase positive behavior in three specific areas: being responsibe, being respectful, and being safe

Staff members acknowledge positive behaviors by handing out small paper "paw prints" to students. Students can earn paw prints when they demonstrate positive behaviors in the classroom, the lunchroom, the playground, the hallways, and all other areas of the school. Students turn paw prints into the office and receive the chance to "Spin the Wheel" on Fridays to win prizes.

In addition to earning individual paw prints, students who are always showing the Wildcat Way will be invited to attend Wildcat Wonderland. Students who attend Wildcat Wonderland have an opportunity to celebrate their positive behaviors with teachers duirng this fun event. Students that do not attend this event will stay with thier classroom teacher. Please be aware that students will not be invited to attend if they are not being respectfulresponsible, or safe.

The PBIS system at Hickory Flat is a great way to promote respectfulresponsiblesafe behavior at school. Be sure to ask your daughter or son, "Did you earn a paw today?" If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's classroom teacher. Thank you so much for your continued support.
