About Me

  • This is my sixth year teaching at Ola High School. I teach American Government and AP European History. I also coach girls varsity soccer. I am the sponsor for Rho Kappa (National Social Studies Honor Society).  I served in the US Army as an infantryman. I graduated from GA State University with a BA in Political Science. I received my MAT from Liberty University. I am currently pursuing my PhD with a focus on history (Eastern Europe, Cold War, WWI, WWII, Holocaust, Russia, Soviet Union).   I lived and worked in DC and have worked on local, national, and some international political campaigns. I enjoy traveling the world, with my favorite areas being Eastern Europe. I am married and have five children, the youngest being adopted from a country called Latvia. I am a huge soccer and hockey fan (ATL UTD and Preds). During the fall, you will see the orange come out and the occasional playing of Rocky Top in the classroom. Yes, I am a UT fan - born in Tennessee with my heart always there.

I enjoy politics and history. My desire is to have my students understand the issues and seek facts and the truth about all things. This will allow them to build their view, which allows them the ability to defend their view. We may not all agree on issues, but we will learn to understand the issues and respect the opinions of others on those issues.
