I am the oldest of four children and the mother of three boys (two are my biological children and the third is an exchange student from the Republic of Georgia who lived with us during the 2010-11 school year), and a grandmother. My siblings and I were all born in Texas, but I grew up in a number of places because my stepfather was in the United States Air Force.  I've lived in the country of Panama as well as in Florida, Mississippi, and Alabama.
I was an honor graduate of Biloxi High School in 1991.  Although I moved to Georgia in 1998, I still consider Biloxi, Mississippi my hometown.  I enrolled at Mississippi University for Women after graduation and completed my degree in English Education in May 1995.  I graduated magna cum laude.
I taught for three years at Adams Middle School in Saraland, Alabama --- a suburb of Mobile.  I taught 7th and 8th grade Language Arts as well as Title I reading.
In 1998 I married Doug -- a fabulous guy from Biloxi that I met in the band at school-- and we moved to Griffin.  I started my career with Henry County Board of Education in August 1998 at Henry County High School.  In 2003 I was part of the inaugural staff at Luella High School and in 2006 I found myself helping open another school (Ola High). In January 2023 I joined the staff at McDonough Middle School as a media specialist.
Doug and I live in McDonough with our dog Oakley. Our sons have grown up and moved to other areas of Georgia.
I enjoy cooking, reading, scrap booking, and spending time with my family when I'm not at work.  My favorite place is anywhere the sand meets the water--- or in a hammock near a lake with a good book.
Education has always been a vital part of my life.  I didn't love first grade, and I even told my mother that I was never going back into a school after my first day.  I learned to love Mrs. Lamb, the first in a very long line of teachers who helped shape the person I've become.
My desire is to help students realize their dreams.  I am currently a graduate student at Valdosta State University and I will graduate in 2024 with an Education Specialist degree in Intructional Technology. .
