 As a leader in Henry County Schools, Ms. Kellam has served as the Social Studies professional learning specialist for the district, leads various focus groups and committees associated with the school and district, collaborates to create district middle grade social studies resources, and presents at social studies workshops at the school, district, and state levels. Ms. Kellam is the recipient of the 2016 Teacher of the Year award at Henry County Middle School, the 2018 “Georgia National History Day Teacher of the Year” award, the 2019 “Gwen Hutchinson Outstanding Educator” award, the inaugural McDonough Middle School 2020 “Teacher of the Year” award, the “2020 Henry County Schools Middle School Teacher of the Year, and was elected president of the Georgia Council for the Social Studies As an active Georgia Council for Social Studies (GCSS) and National Council for Social Studies (NCSS) member, Ms. Kellam has presented at the GCSS annual conference every year, since 2016. Her presentations focus on instructional strategies, specified to the Georgia social studies standards of excellence, to promote student engagement, active learning, and critical thinking.
