Greetings, 

My name is Ms. Coleman. I am your Visual Arts Teacher this year. I have been teaching visual arts for over 20+ years and I look forward to exploring art with you all. Teaching art is my passion, and I am excited to have the opportunity to work with your children as they create and explore the world of visual arts. 

Throughout the year, students will dive into different art styles, techniques, and mediums. They will learn how to discuss art using the elements and principles of art and see how art plays a role in their daily lives. We will also discuss how art has played a major role in history and explore art careers.

Students will use the Elements of Art and Principles of Design to create, discuss, and connect that knowledge to their lives and the world while aligning all concepts and activities with the Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE). Students will be engaged in learning as they make connections to other disciplines. Arts Integration is a great way for students to make connections in learning and grasp concepts that may be difficult to learn in other academic areas.  Art serves as a way for students to be expressive, creative, and original. Challenging yet fun. I want them to have lifelong learning experiences that will be rewarding for them now and in the future.

My expectations are for students to come in ready to learn, think outside the box, dive into creative problem-solving skills, and explore their creative side in and out of the classroom. I look forward to having a great year!
