Welcome ToMrs. Miller's Page
My name is Heidi Miller and I will be working with the RSE gifted students this year. This is my 21st year in education. I have taught 5th grade, 3rd grade, special education, art, TAG, and served as a guidance counselor. I am looking forward to another new adventure working with our gifted students. It is my hope that the students I serve will have the opportunity to stretch their thinking, reasoning, and creativity.
I received my Bachelor’s degree in psychology, and a Masters in counseling from Liberty University. The first 11 years of my career was spent as a child/adolescent therapist. While working as a school based therapist for a middle school and alternative high school, I was offered a position as a guidance counselor. From there I went into the classroom. How I ended up in the classroom is a story for another time. I received my teaching certificate through the GA TAPP program, am certified in special education, and received my gifted endorsement.
On a more personal note, I have a wonderful husband of 32 years and two amazing sons that are grown and on their own. I also have two golden doodles, Stella and Keisel (named after Brett Keisel from the Pittsburgh Steelers). Needless to say, I am a Steelers fan. While I call Pittsburgh my home town, I was actually born in Germany and grew up as a military kid. This allowed me to travel the world and experience many different cultures and unique adventures. I loved every moment. When we would come back to the states to see grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins, we went to Pittsburgh. This is why I call Pittsburgh home and love my black-n-gold.
In addition to teaching, I will be sponsoring the Yearbook Club and Blooming Artists. More information will be sent home on how to join.
