Dear Students and Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to a new year at Impact Academy. I am pleased and honored to be your child’s English Language Arts instructor. I look forward to working with my students and their families this year. I pledge that if you participate in our exploration, I will do my best to make learning interesting, meaningful, and fun!
For those of you who have not met me, I began my teaching career with Henry County in 2014 after working in the legal field for many years. I received my Master’s in Education from Liberty University in 2013. I received both my AP Language and Composition and my AP Literature and Composition certifications in 2018. In 2019, I received my Gifted certification; and in 2021, I received my Dramatic Writing certification.
Every student will be challenged every day with rigorous and meaningful instruction that is aligned with the District’s and the State’s content standards. I demand excellence from all of my students and expect that every student will put forth his or her best effort every day. This type of learning, however, can only take place with the full cooperation of all involved.
Each child is a gift that should be nurtured, and I will do my best to help him/her grow emotionally and intellectually. I believe this growth can happen by examining the issues we will cover in class. Words are powerful, and how we use them determines our level of success. The main goal of my course is to ensure each student becomes an effective communicator. To accomplish this goal, we will work on our reading, writing, and critical thinking skills.
Additional information about your child’s class is on my syllabus, which is located in Google Classroom; please refer to Henry Connects daily (https://schoolwires.henry.k12.ga.us) for updated classroom information.
Regular communication is essential for success; please reach out to me if you have questions or concerns. Feel free to contact me any time via email (marsha.dryden@henry.k12.ga.us) and I will respond to you ASAP, or you may call 470-391-4829 and leave a text message. If you call and leave a message, please make sure you tell me your name, as well as your student's name, and a contact number.
To be successful in my class students need:
- A desire to learn
- An open mind
- A strong work ethic
- A positive attitude
On a final note, THANK YOU for allowing me to be a part of this amazing journey!
