I am pleased and excited to be a new part of the Dutchtown High family, and serving your child as their instructor for the 2022-23 school year. I am sure that your student may be apprehensive about either starting high school or a new grade this year, and since I am starting a new school, I fully understand. Please trust that I will be doing my best to facilitate their learning in a way that will allow them room to let go of all apprehensions soon after the year starts. My fervant desire is that we will work together as a team to navigate this year successfully. If you have any concerns, questions, or information that you wish to share about your child, please use the above email, or leave me a message with the front office (770)515-7510. I look forward to hearing from you, as well as assisting your child in making this year at Dutchtown a success. Please make sure that I have a convenient way of contacting you for updates or for communicating as needed.
ALL ABOUT ME: I have been in education for about 14 years and was alternatively trained in 2009 after being in the business sector for 14 years. I started as a Substitute Teacher in 2006 and an immediate bond was made between myself ,students, and staff, so I did what it took to get certified in the state of Georgia to teach officially. I enjoy teaching high school students and assisting in preparing them for their next milestone in life.
My undergraduate degree was in Business Administration with an emphasis on Marketing, Management, and MIS with a minor in African American Studies. My Masters is in Post Secondary Education with emphasis in Foundations of Education. I was a manager of a restaurant of a famous food conglomerate prior to becoming a teacher for 14 years. I have been nominated and won teacher of the month five times at my previous school, and was a mentor to various teachers and students. I was the facilitator of the Black Student Union, Black Studies Club & planner for several Black History Month Programs. I have had three of my four sons graduate from my previous school while I taught there, so I am also aware of how challenging and scary being a parent of a high school student can be. Looking forward to a wonderfully productive year and partnering with you, as a new member of your village, to assist in moving your child along on their journey in life.
