    ¡Bienvenidos!

I am pleased to be teaching and/ or sponsoring you this year!  I hope that you will have an enlightening journey en mi clase de español or within my organizations!

My goals are to engage you in studies that focus on the hispanic language and culture in creative, fun, and informative ways. As your maestra de español, I hope to help you in aquiring a strong appreciation of Spanish culture as well build your proficiency levels so that you will become an adept communicator. I aspire to instill in you a communicative confidence and proficiency so that will inspire you to continue building your Spanish proficiency well beyond high school.

I began teaching in 1993 and during my career, I have had the joy of instructing students of all ages and levels. I have taught kindergarten through high school, adult education classes for Spanish and ESOL, and Spanish For Native Speakers Courses. I have been here at Dutchtown High School for thirteen years and I have loved sponsoring various extra-curriculars such as the Ambassadors Club, the Culture Club, the Academic Team.

I believe that teaching goes beyond the classroom, so I have always encouraged my students to grow culturally and academically by preparing them for showcases such as the Henry County World Language Fair and the DHS International Festival. Outside the classrooom, students have attended field trips and engaged in academic competitions and charitable events- so as to provide enrichment of the studied curriculum. I strive to inspire my students by providing engaging lessons that emphasize global studies, expose them to higher level thinking skills, and instill confidence in their self- expression and creativity. My hope is to ignite in my students a genuine appreciation for learning a new language and understand varying cultural practices. I am pleased to say that many of my students have gone on to major or minor in Spanish at the college level or have utilized their language skills in their post-secondary careers. I hope that you will continue to speak Spanish well beyond our time together!

    Together we can Achieve!
