Vernon Denmark is starting his 3rd year at Stockbridge High School. His goal is to take a group of young Tigers to bigger and better heights in the classroom first then on the basketball court. In his 3rd season as the Tigers head coach expectations will be taken to a new height with hopes of a state playoff birth. Coach Denmark began his coaching career in 2002 as the head jv coach and assistant varsity coach at his alma mater Burke County High School. After two years he relocated to Rockdale County spending the next four years coaching on the middle school level. He then became the head assistant coach at Rockdale County High School. During his time at Rockdale they experienced much success including two region titles, a first-round state playoff finish, three Sweet 16 finishes and one state runner up finish in 2011. After those five successful seasons Coach Denmark ventured out to become the head coach at Heritage High School in Conyers. During his tenure at Heritage they made the state playoffs for five consecutive years and placed as Region Tournament Runner Up twice. In the 2017-2018 season the Patriots were able to win the region title and finished the season with a trip to the Class 6A state final four. During the 2018-2019 season he successfully lead Heritage to a repeat trip to the Class 6A state final four. Both seasons were the furthest Heritage basketball had gone in over 20 years. During his time at Heritage he made several accomplishments including Region 8AAAAA coach of year in 2015, Region 3AAAAAA coach of the year in 2018 and Class AAAAAA state coach of the year in 2018.
