Our Rock Spring students love our school library, but we want them to enjoy their public library as well!  We are so excited to share the wonderful opportunities available through our McDonough Public Library!    There are so many FREE resources and activities for your child.

    • Every Henry County Public school student automatically has a library card with the public library.  All they need is their Henry County schools student number to check out books.
    • The online resources are also available to your child for free.  https://henrylibraries.org/e-books___more/online_resources.php

            • One of my most favorite is FREE TUTORING at tutor.com.  Tutor.com provides on-demand tutoring, homework help, test preparation, and writing assistance for students in grades K-Adult in over 60 subjects. No appointment is necessary!
            • To Log In:
                  • User Name – put HCL in front of student # (Example – HCL324567)
                  • Password – two digit month +four digit year (Example – 052007)
                  •
    • There are also so many FREE events at the library.  Check out the calendar - https://henrylibraries.org/calendar.php?view=month&month=11&day=01&year=2024&calendar=12
        • Some highlights for November and December:

    §  November 25 – 6:00 – 7:00 - American Girl (McDonough Children's Event)

Join us at the McDonough Library for our American Girl Doll Get-Together (any doll will do!) Theme: Dinovember.   Bring your doll for a themed story followed by crafting and snack making. This event is intended for children ages 5-12.

    §      December 2 – 6:00-7:00 Literary LEGOs (McDonough Children's Event)

Each month, McDonough Public Library has a LEGO challenge for children ages 5-12. They build something on the challenge topic, or free build. Those that build that challenge topic are placed on display in the Children’s Department so visitors to the library may vote for the remainder of the month. The winner is selected by the built design that gets the most votes. Winners receive a prize!   This month’s theme: Gingerbread Houses.  Do not bring legos with you.

    §  December 16 – 6:00 – 7:00 Coding Club (McDonough Children's & Teen Event)

Come learn the basics of Coding using Scratch at our McDonough Coding Club! Bringing your own device is requested. Age 7-17.   Download the Scratch app to your device before arriving.
