Ms. Melissa Mrvos

It is with great anticipation and enthusiasm that I am teaching your student Family and Consumer Sciences.

My southern roots began on a farm in Tifton, GA where I was involved in my community and raised by two parents that were educators. I was influenced by my parents' strong work ethic and devotion to family that I was determined to make a positive impact on my future career. After my high school graduation, I began my college experience at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College for two years then I transferred to the University of Georgia. I graduated from UGA with a bachelor degree in Family and Consumer Sciences. After I was teaching for five years, I completed my master's degree in Counseling from Troy University. My passion continued for education, and I completed my specialist in Teacher Leadership from Mercer University. My life experience, as well as my education, has influenced my teaching career.

For the last 24 years, I’ve had the privilege of working in the Henry County School System as a high school Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher. I’ve experienced teaching in all economic cycles and have witnessed firsthand the benefits of being a pathway completer in CTAE. I firmly believe that every student is entitled to an enriching education, respect and professional learning environment. Along with my networking skills, I will bring a creative, positive energy to the classroom by a desire and willingness to work with others to achieve a common goal. With an unmatched combination of positivity, commitment, and drive, I feel that I will be an influential role-model for your student. I make a real-life connection with every standard in my curriculum to increase the relevance of Family and Consumer Sciences. When students are trying to make the real-life connections, they are using higher order thinking skills as well as learning how my content affects society. My goal is to motivate students in identifying their inner strengths, abilities and the activities that truly inspire them in order to reach their career goals.  My students will be equipped with 21st-century soft skills to be a productive employee and able to pursue their future endeavors.

I look forward to a very successful school year.
