     Welcome Message:

Welcome to our Health and PE classes. I am excited to be in my 32nd year as a teacher here in Henry County. Of those, nearly all have been right here at McDonough Middle (formerly Henry County Middle)

My coaching resume lists 29 years at Henry High, Henry Middle and now McDonough High. Included are 15 years of baseball experience at Henry County High School, 20 years of football at Henry High and Henry Middle as well as 6 years serving as athletic director at Henry Middle. Currently, I am in my fifth year of coaching Boys and Girls Tennis at McDonough High. I was blessed to serve as head coach of the 2005 Henry High baseball team that won our county's first public school state championship in that sport.

I was also fortunate to have the 2009/2010 back-to-back MMSAL champions in football. Among the countless outstanding student-athletes I've been privileged to coach during my tenure include current Los Angeles Dodger, Jason Heyward, as well as current Cleveland Brown, Dalvin Tomlinson.

A native of McDonough and a 1986 alum of ELCA, I have a Bachelors in Health / PE from Brewton Parker College in Mt. Vernon, GA, where I attended on a baseball scholarship. I also have a Masters in Education from Walden University. I live in Atlanta with my wife, Angel, who is also a teacher, as well as my three awesome children Brett, Lauren, and Ashton.

My interests include running and watching pretty much all sports. I'm a die-hard fan of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (THWG!), the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Currently, we are assisting our students as they develop their very own 'personalized fitness plans' (PFP's).  These "learners" engage in either individualized workouts or via various team sport options in class. In our health classes during the Fall, we focus on all learners developing a strategy for growing mentally, physically, socially, and emotionally through various Health topics.

I look forward to another great year as well as working with all of our wonderful students here at McDonough Middle. I hope that you will embrace the opportunity to invest in ALL of the them and support our current nest of "Warhawks" in their endeavors and dreams!

    Sincerely,

    Coach Troy Baker
