Parents,
We are a proud PBIS school in which we focus on positive student behaviors. We use the Second Step program to develop students' social and emotional learning. We help students keep track through our class' Class Dojo account. We can award positive behavior points when we "catch" students doing something positive! We love surprising our students and awarding them these points! It brings out the best in them. Through Dojo, we can also remind students (and make parents aware) of behavior concerns in the classroom. Please keep up with your child's Dojo daily to see their strengths and any areas they may need to work on. The goal is for students to earn a minimum of 15 Dojo points each week. Please check your child's Dojo report each night and follow up with your child about why points were earned or lost that day.
Furthermore, we are focusing on Social Emotional Learning (SEL) this year. We will be explicitly teaching skills of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making to enhance student wellbeing and achievement. Read our weekly newsletter to see what skills we are working on and follow up with your child at home. Encourage positive classroom behavior and citizenship at home so that our class team can be the best that it can be!
