Grading in the Art Room

Below you will find the rubric that will be used to grade students in the art room. For K-4 we will be using the termininology below, but for grade 5 they still use a number system. Basically, a grade of 4=EX, 3=PR, 2=AP, 1=LP, and 0=IP.

Exemplary(EX) Proficient(PR) Approaching (AP) Limited Progress(LP) Insufficient Progress (IP) Consistently and independently demonstrates above grade level mastery of Visual Arts standards (HTLS). Demonstrates grade level mastery when engaging in Visual Arts standards (HTLS). Approaching the concepts of Visual Arts standards (HTLS). Limited progress towards with participation in class discussions and activities related to Visual Arts standards (HTLS). Insufficient progress toward participation in class discussions and activities related to Visual Arts standards (HTLS). Above or beyond the scope of grade level expectations. With limited assistance and or prompting and consistent involvement meeting grade level expectations. With assistance and/or inconsistent accuracy and sporadic involvement with inconsistency meeting grade level expectations. With substantial assistance and/or prompting, limited progress that does not meet the level of grade level expectations. With substantial assistance and/or prompting, insufficient progress that is significantly below grade level expectations.
